What fun its been!. After 8 years of hard work "The Australian Orchid Nursery is becoming a very enjoyable place to be. In May this year we attended Orchids Out West and had a marvelous time selling with all the other commercial vendours.See the photo to see what all the other commercial identities look like!
Great venue Great weather and sensational sales and agreat time had by all.Dont miss it for 2009. After such as successful time we decided to take the "Long Way Home" and drove home first up to 'Down Under native Orchids " To Visit Brian Gerhart
here is a link to his Native nursery http://www.duno.com.au/ after that we went to Royale Orchids where Kevin Hipkins as always was the perfect host http://www.royaleorchids.com/index.html
Then down to Alan Stephenson who guided us through some remarkable orchid sites in The Kangaroo valley. Many red wines and a little fishing later we returned home fresh and ready for the 2008 season

WINTER QUEENSLAND BREAK 06.2008
|
|

In late June 2008 the Family and I headed for far North Queenslanfd for a quick winter break.AS always (and much to the childrens disgust) we tried to visit as many orchids sites and identities as possible while still enjoying a family break.
Some of the highlight were the terete orchids (Dockrillia brevicauda) growing right in Cairns itself ourside the botanoc gardens and on the very mainstreet of Kuranda. The same trees were also hanging with Cymbidium maddidum 'Ensfeildii' the yellow maddidum.Up the windey Gillies highway(Car sickness heaven) to the Atherton tableland to visit Geoff Stocker at Malanda. Geoff has an extensive collection and kindly took us the his new property overlooking the whole of the tableland. The property was humid and windblown and dripping with orchids. Most if not all the species were the same as many found a thousand miles further south showing how suitable the Atherton is for cool growing genus!

CHANGES TO OUR POSTAL SYSTEMN AND CHARGES PLEASE READ!
|
|

Unfortunalty we have had to completely change the way we accept payment for postal charges packaging handling and freight .
With new laws that forbid us to hold credit card numbers( For theft and computer hacking reasons) we now cant charge postage after we go to the post office and find out the cost.
We now have to use a pre paid systemn that has many flaws.
Your freight will be supplied to you automatically at check out supplied by a complicated program that works on the number of items you purchase and the postcode supplied.
This works fine until the sytemn charges the same for a 10"pot of Cymbidiums and a 100gram pack of spike clips.!
For this reason we have now added and adittional freight section in the shopping cart. If the postage is vastly above the cost price, you will be asked to add some additional freight charges manually simply by purchasing adittional freight.
Its as easy as clicking on a button.
As always please supply us with a phone number in your check out details so we can advise you by a quick phone call if needed.
We can and always will absorb slighthly dearer postages , as of course we win sometimes on the local postages.
But occationally the postage may be as much as $25 of the mark with the new aotomated systemn.

The Australian Orchid Nursery is Australia’s Largest producer of Indigenous Australian Orchids. We wholesale, retail and mail-order and in the 2006 season had over 80,000 orchids in various sizes from 50mm tubes through to 18 year old specimen plants.
We also have a large range of mounted epiphytic orchids with over 2000 mounted for sale at any one time.
Our orchids are grown cold with our local ambient temperatures - a minimum of 2 degrees Celsius right up to a very warm 40 degrees. |
 |
|
Being a family business, service is our top priority - always personal and friendly.
Our plan is to produce enough Australian native orchids to supply nurseries throughout temperate Australia as well as globally with a large range of species and hybrids at pot plant prices. Simply put, we try to make our orchids affordable and available for everyone to enjoy.
To create a web page that we hope you will return to often, we will be changing the images often and adding downloadable updates, specials and show results as well as photos shared by you the customers. | |
