CHANGES TO OUR POSTAL SYSTEMN AND CHARGES PLEASE READ!

Unfortunalty we have had to completely change the way we accept payment for postal charges packaging handling and freight .

With new laws that forbid us to hold credit card numbers( For theft and computer hacking reasons) we now cant charge postage after we go to the post office and find out the cost.

We now have to use a pre paid systemn that has many flaws.

Your freight will be supplied to you automatically at check out supplied by a  complicated program that works on the number of items you purchase and the postcode supplied.

This works fine until the sytemn charges the same for a 10"pot of Cymbidiums and a 100gram pack of spike clips.!

For this reason we have now added and addittional freight section in the shopping cart.  If the postage is vastly above the cost price, you will be asked to add some additional freight charges manually simply by purchasing addittional freight.

Its as easy as clicking on a button.

As always  please supply us with a phone number in your check out details so we can advise you by a quick phone call if needed.

We can and always will absorb slighthly dearer postages , as of course we win sometimes on the local postages.

But occationally the postage may be as much as $25  of the mark with the new aotomated systemn.

Urgent Attention Western Australian Customers

All Western Australian Customers Please Read

Due to all new Australian Quarrantine and Inspection services (AQIS) laws that came in as of the 1st July all consignments are treated as though they are going to another country.

This means we must do large amounts of paperwork in addittion to what we used to do in the past.

All orchids must be dispatched bare root and treated two days prior to packing with three seperate chemicals.

We have had to have three seperate audits to prepare us for this and these alone have cost around $260.00. Combined with the cost of the chemicals needed ($750.00)

Unfortunatly what this means is user pays. All orders to WA will incure a modest $15.00 surcharge .

This figure has been worked out due to the amount of orders we expect from WA and may change as required.

As we are one of only a handfull of nurseries that has complied, we hope you will support us with your purchases.

Is This The World's Finest PDF Orchid Society Bulliten? ANOS Vic Branch

At "The Australian Orchid Nursery” we have been given the opportunity to show you what I believe is the world's finest Society Bulletin.  ANOS Victorian Branch under the editing of the talented Helene Wild produces a monthly, full color bulletin magazine to rival far more expensive Journals

Should you enjoy it and wish to subscribe please read on

The Australasian Native Orchid Society (Victorian Group) Inc., known as ANOS (Vic), publishes the Bulletin in both hard copy (black & white - no colour) or in full colour by email.  It is sent each month except January, to all members of ANOS (Vic).  Membership fees depend on the method of delivery of the Bulletin.

Currently these are:

            Full color e-mail Bulletin            $18.00
            Hard copy B & W no colour    $24.00    Overseas       $34.00

Notes:

1.  Under ANOS (Vic) rules all memberships are renewable on 1 July each year.

2.  For applications made Jan – June the fee is halved.

3  If paying by cheque, the cheque must be in Australian dollars and drawn on an Australian bank and made out to “The Australasian Native Orchid Society (Victorian Group) Inc.” Sorry about that but the banks are getting very particular!

4.  We accept credit card payment (Visa or MasterCard).

Membership application forms are available from our website at www.anosvic.org.au

We recommend that credit card applications be mailed; we do not have a secure connection.

The Annual ANOS Vic Branch Spring show is on again

There are Two native orchid Societies In Melbourne

Here's  a PDF of their Febuary Journal  Click here

ANOS (Melbourne Suburbs Group) planned activities for the remainder of 2007 include:

28/03/07 Growing Australian natives on mounts

25/04/07 Tropical Australasian Orchids

23/05/07 Orchid houses, Cultural materials and Methods

27/06/07 Terrestrial orchids

25/07/07 Potting mixes and fertilizing

22/08/07 Timing the best flowering result from your plants for displays and shows

26/09/07 The Genus Dendrobium

29 - 30/09/07 Spring Show, Montrose Public Hall

24/10/07 Sarcochilus and allied genera

28/11/07 Deflasking techniques, compots and establishing seedlings

Our meetings emphasize improved growing methods to develop stronger and better flowering plants and support and encourage ongoing breeding of Australasian orchids.  We already have an experienced group of members and scientists actively sharing their knowledge of orchids during the meetings and we encourage informality and discussion.  We plan to cover information on all genera over time and we support conservation through breeding and other initiatives.

At meetings benched orchids are judged by our judging panel according to ANOS judging guidelines. Plants for judging need to be benched between 7.00 and 7.30pm..

The Australian Orchid Nursery is Australia’s Largest producer of Indigenous Australian Orchids. We wholesale, retail and mail-order and in the 2006 season had over 80,000 orchids in various sizes from 50mm tubes through to 18 year old specimen plants.

We also have a large range of mounted epiphytic orchids with over 2000 mounted for sale at any one time.

Our orchids are grown cold with our local ambient temperatures - a minimum of 2 degrees Celsius right up to a very warm 40 degrees.

Being a family business, service is our top priority - always personal and friendly.

Our plan is to produce enough Australian native orchids to supply nurseries throughout temperate Australia as well as globally with a large range of species and hybrids at pot plant prices.  Simply put, we try to make our orchids affordable and available for everyone to enjoy.

To create a web page that we hope you will return to often, we will be changing the images often and adding downloadable updates, specials and show results as well as photos shared by you the customers.

Understanding How to use this website

jpgIn the past this website revolved around PDF downloadable catalogues. The problem with these is that they outdate quickly and are a difficult to change. This is why we have now converted to the wonderful "Shopping Cart Method"

Even if you make a mistake we always contact you first via email to confirm the order, and if there is any problems, we can easily and quickly resolve them. Please do not be intimidated by the new system, it is very easy and safe.

To make the website managable I have broken it up into many smaller catagories. Just keep going deeper until you find what it is you are looking for.

PDFs Most of these are now 2004 out of date stock, but are very colourful and interesting.   These are relativley large files that allow us to add hundreds of high quality photos to the website easily and quickly. These files being quite large in most cases require time to download .This may vary depending on the time of day and speed of your modem.

Please be patient! It can take up to 5 minutes for the bigger ones.

If you dont have the ability to open PDFs then you will need to obtain the free software from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

If you cant open any files after a few attempts please contact me and I will email you a copy.

I hope you enjoy this website.
